    Logitech mouse and Keyboard issues

I've been using Logitech mice and keyboards for years and love them but the other day something strange happened.
I had a Logitech Performance MX mouse that I had been using for 3-5 years I had the same mouse before that one for another 5+ years. I like them, I have had a Logitech K800 keyboard for the since 2017 and had one before that one that a key broke, I like them also.

The other day my mouse stopped working so I tried troubleshooting it everyway I could think of without any luck. I had bought a new Logitech MX Master mouse about a month ago as a backup so I installed it and then my K800 keyboard stopped working??? couldn't figure out why so I had a new one as a backup so I installed it and then it worked fine.

To this day I do not believe that both my mouse and keyboard died at the same time, I feel they are still in working condition but now I have the new K800 and new MX Master mouse install and they are working fine.

Sorry for all the info but I figured it would be easier to understand my issues.

Everything I've read tells that the unifying receiver should handle the Logitech mouse and keyboard but NEVER has it worked that way for me. I had to have a receiver for the mouse and one for the keyboard and it had to be the one that came with the mouse or keyboard.

The MX Performance mouse was acting up and I checked the mouse hardware in the control panel and there were 3 unifying receivers listed, the same thing for the keyboard. Right now I have 2 unifying receivers plugged in and one if for the mouse and the other for the keyboard. No matter what I do I can't get both to run on just one unifying receiver like they are supposed to. I called Logitech support and got someone in a third world country who after hearing my issues sent me an email listing how to troubleshoot the problem. the same thing I had read myself many time by Googling the problems, the people they use for support don't know anything except how to look up recourses and read from them.

I'm going to attach some screenshots of the hardware tabs for the keyboard and mouse to show that it shows 3 devices in each and in my settings to show the MX Master is installed. Now I have 2 unifying receivers in and if I take one out the mouse or keyboard will not work with both in they work fine. Once again I still think the K800 keyboard that I just replaced and the MX performance mouse I replace do work but something in my system is goofy.

can anyone make heads of tails of this??

    Logitech K800 keyboard
    * Your K800 Unifying USB receiver can be connected to up to six Unifying Logitech mice and keyboards.
    * Software: Logitech SetPoint

    Logitech MX Master
    * You can connect your mouse to up to three devices at the same time. You can use either Bluetooth Smart or the Logitech Unifying receiver that comes with the mouse.
    * Software: Logitech Options

The Unifying receivers are subject to interference. If you have more than one separate them if possible.

My keyboard suffered from interference. After I moved the Unifying receiver to a USB 2.0 port on the back of the computer the keyboard worked a lot better.

You can launch the Unifying software from either SetPoint or Options. I will show this with what I have.

I have the following: Logitech MK550 Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Combo
    • K350 Keyboard (uses SetPoint)
    • M510 Mouse (uses Options)

    Using Logitech SetPoint

    1. Select Logitech mouse and Keyboard issues-image.png

    2. Select Open Unifying Software

    3. Select Advanced

    4. Select Pair a New Device to add a mouse or keyboard

Thank you for the detailed reply. SO what you are saying is that if i use the Logitech software both can run on the same unifying receiver? I had so many problems with set point years ago and never trusted it again so I just let win 10 use it's drivers.

I use a Logitech K800 & an M705 (mouse) on one unifying receiver. If you have yours connected to individual receivers then this may have been the problem.

According to Logitech you can. Just pick one and try. If you use the one from the keyboard use SetPoint. If you use the one from the mouse use Options.

Note when you are ready to pair a device turn it off and then back on in order for the Unifying receiver to see it.

    Using Unifying receiver from K800
    • Plug in Unifying receiver for K800
    • Unplug Unifying receiver for MX Master
    • Assumed K800 already paired to its Unifying receiver
    • Plug wired mouse into computer
    • Run SetPoint and navigate to Unifying software
    • Pair MX Master
    • Unplug wired mouse

Using Unifying receiver from MX Master
    • Plug in Unifying receiver for MX Master
    • Unplug Unifying receiver for K800
    • Assumed MX Master already paired to its Unifying receiver
    • Plug wired keyboard into computer
    • Run Options and navigate to Unifying software
    • Pair K800
    • Unplug wired keyboard

Thank you as well. I have no owned a corded mouse in 15 years or since they had wireless mice. Can I do the steps backwards, meaning do the keyboard first rather than the mouse since I will need a working mouse to do all this?

You just need one unifying receiver. I put mine at the end of a USB extension lead just under the monitor so it is very close to the keyboard and mouse. Obviously check your batteries are OK. I would also uninstall and reinstall the Logitech software & drivers.

Thanks for your reply, I know that it should only take one unifying receiver to run both my keyboard and mouse. Neither will work unless they each have their own receiver and I know that is not the way it should work but it is how it does. I think it may be because I don't use the Logitech software.
My plan is to install setpoint and options tomorrow but I need a corded mouse while I uninstall the wireless one and I haven't had one of those things in 10+ years....lol I'll go buy one tomorrow and then see if that fixes things. Batteries are fine even bought new rechargeable batteries and everything worked fine for 4 years and all of a sudden the other day both the mouse and keyboard started to act up and then stopped working. I doubt they both went bad at the same time it is a connectivity problem that for some reason just decided to happen after years of working okay the way I had it.???

We'll see tomorrow when I install the Logitech software. once again thanks for your reply!

The only reason I said wired mouse is because it would simplify the setup.

It should work if you temporarily use a different wireless mouse with it own unifying receiver. Then when you ran SetPoint > Unifying you could try turning the MX Master' power switch off and on to see if you can pair it. If you can pair it then remove the other mouse and unplug its unifying receiver.

As an experiment I ran SetPoint > Unifying and paired a second mouse to the keyboards unifying receiver. As you can see I paired a Logitech M325 mouse. At this point both mice worked. I then back into SetPoint > Unifying and unpaired the Logitech M325 mouse.

I actually started with the Unifying receiver plugged into a front panel USB 3.0 port. The mouse worked OK but there was enough interference that the keyboard wouldn't work right. I have read that some people have had problems with Unifying receivers plugged into a USB 3.0 port. I moved the Unifying receiver and plugged into USB 2.0 port located at the back of the computer near the floor. Both the mouse and keyboard work great that way. BTW, I also have a Bluetooth wireless dongle plugged in near the Logitech Unifying receiver. They both work great there.

Okay, I bought my corded mouse ( never thought I'd ever do that again......lol ) so now I am ready to try and connect my MX performance mouse and K800 keyboard to the same unifying receiver. I returned the MX Master mouse since I found out the problem wasn't the mouse it was the connectivity.

In this thread there is a lot of good info and discussion but it can all be confusing so I'd like to ask a few direct questions and get answers for.

Went to Logitech and checked downloads for the K800 and the MX performance and found the following.
Firmware Update tool 2.5 ( same for both the MX performance mouse and K800 Keyboard )
    Options_8.54.161
    SetPoint6.70.55_64
    unifying250

The MX Performance Mouse and the K800 Keyboard should only use one Unifying Receiver, Right?
It doesn't make sense to me that I have to install the firmware, Setpoint, Options and the unifying software ?

Is that what you are saying I need to do? or just install Setpoint? to make the MX Performance mouse and the K800 keyboard working on one unifying receiver?

    Thanks in advance.
