4tb Hard drives showing as 2tb

    Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (2009, 19042.985)

Version: 10.0.190424tb Hard drives showing as 2tb-part.jpg

I have 2 Seagate Barracuda drives that only show as 2tb.
    They are gpt.
This is since using them in raid in nas.
    tried everything in this thread
Disk Management shows new 4TB disk as 2TB despite using GPT
Drives are F & G in screenshot,i have 2 other 4tb drives that are fine.

Hello! I am not sure which RAID configuration you have but this could explain why you see half the capacity. Have you tried using a single disk? If this appears 4TB then there is no hardware issue, just your RAID settings. Probably you did not create a simple mirror (two 4TB disks appear as a single 4TB pair) but some more advance configuration

Use Diskpart and the the Clean command
    Convert to GPT
Create the Partitions as you like

Do you have the model numbers for the F and G drives?
All I can think is that maybe they really ARE 2TB drives, or some setting in the BIOS (although I can't think what it could be), or maybe those drives only have 2TB formatted. (the rest being unallocated).

Maybe post a Disk Management screenshot, also.

Just a thought. If at first you formatted the drives as MBR maximum supported partition size is 2TB. Converting MBR to GPT is not enough. You must also expand the 2TB partition to cover all available disk space up to 4TB. Can you post a photo of Disk Management?

Did low level format then converted to GPT.

Low level format turns them back to MBR
