The disk structure is corrupted and unreadable. - Error

Windows Version: Windows 10, Dev (OS Build 21390.1010)
On another computer - Windows Version: Windows 7, 6.1 (Compilation 7601: Service Pack 1)

    Hi guys!
I've got a big problem with my school/private drive.

Today morning I've tried to connect my drive to my laptop, and there was an error (The parameter isn't proper) or something like that.
Now, when I connect my drive, it displays (The disk structure is corrupted and unreadable.) and I can't access files on it.
In Disk Management, they say that Disk 1 partitions are RAW instead od NTFS (I have got 2 partitions - D:/ and G:/).

I tried uninstalling driver, and reinstalling it - nothing.

    When I run chkdsk D: /f or chkdsk G: /f it says:
The type of the file system is NTFS.
Unable to determine volume version and state. CHKDSK aborted.
But I still can't access it.

    Can someone please help?
    Thanks!

Hi, assuming you're referring to an external USB-connected drive, please perform a quick check:

Download and install Hard Disk Sentinel (good for SSDs too) - trial remains usefully functional.

With your drive plugged in run that program. Click the area on the left to select a drive.
Select the external drive. Post a screenshot of HDS's GUI.

If ok, then see these threads:

Please feel free to search tenforums for more threads on e.g.

The disk structure is corrupted and unreadable. - Error-gui.png
Which is weird, cuz drive is connected to the adapter.

Note: Another drive is working normally

Ok, it just refreshed, and it displays drive properly, but I still can't access any files.

There are 64 bad sectors (s) on the surface of the disk. The content of these sectors has been moved to the spare area.
At this point, the warranty replacement of the drive is not yet possible. This can only be done when the lifetime of the drive is declining.
It is recommended that you check the disk log regularly. All new problems found will be registered in it.

It is recommended to back up frequently to prevent data loss.

I suppose it's possible that the reallocation of sectors could have failed to maintain some data intact. I.e. perhaps you've lost something critical to the partition structure, for example.

Please see the threads I posted.
If you can't see any partitions on the disk, you will probably need to use appropriate repair tools.

Read down to this and see if this helps:

Thank you @dalchina for referring to my post dated 29 Nov 2017

    Hi @WiktorWdowiak

In all these cases you must always give full details of the HDD like whether it is an internal drive or external drive, manufacturer, model No, capacity, how old is your drive , when was the last time you were able to successfully access the drive and also any event after which it became RAW and inaccessible - like you pulled it out without using safe removal or there was a sudden power outage/surge when it was being used.

    1. Please post a screenshot of Windows Disk Management showing your drive RAW.

How to Upload and Post Screenshots and Files at Ten Forums

    2. Uninstall any new version of MiniTool Partition Wizard you had installed. Download , install and run MiniTool Partition Wizard Free 9.1 - yes only version 9.1. In later versions Partition Recovery is really not free.
Download MiniTool Partition Wizard Free Edition 9.1 for windows - Filepuma.com

Post a screenshot of how your drive appears in it - the very first screen that appears when you launch it.

Thanks for those.. I've no idea what that test represents. You already know there are some bad sectors replaced from the pool- Hard Disk Sentinel is much more informative. I've already commented on that.

I suggest you wait for Jumanji now.

    Hi @WiktorWdowiak,

I am totally confused now . Seagate Momentus Thin 500LT012 is a 2.5" laptop drive. It is not an external drive. How is it connected to your laptop? Have you put that drive in an enclosure and USB plugged it into your Laptop? If it is a data drive why does it have an EFI partition? If it is inside an enclosure please mention the manufacturer and model number of the enclosure. Was the drive accessible before in that enclosure and that PC and when was it?

(I believe Disk 0 is your internal system disk ( Is it your HP 250 G6 Notebook PC?). Why does it have a 62.11GB RAW data partition in between the 200MB EFI partition and the 620 MB partition? Anyway, I am not worried about it if you are not. Just wanted to educate myself since I am not familiar with such a partition structure )

As for Disk 1 , the RAW partitions have drive lettrs D: and G: which means no partition recovery is involved. We have to try and find out why those have become raw. ( Again why does that disk have a recovery partition? )

This drive was in my laptop, but I installed new SSD to my laptop, and this HDD drive is now my external hard drive by using an USB enclosure.
Yes, my laptop is HP 250 G6 Notebook PC.
It has 62.11GB RAW data partition, is on drive, that is in my laptop
I know that 260 MB partition is for EFI, and the 980 MB partition is recovery partition.
MiniTool Partition Wizard messes up a little bit, cuz it shows Disk 0 as Disk 1, and Disk 1 as Disk 2, a bit confusing.
Now, when I try to access D:[] or G:[], it says that The parameter is incorrect.

    Hi @WiktorWdowiak

You haven't answered all my questions.

    1. If it is inside an enclosure please mention the manufacturer and model number of the enclosure.
    2. With the drive in that enclosure plugged into that HP 250 G6 laptop was any data accessible before and if yes when was it?

When you wanted to use that 500GB disk as a data drive, why didn't you delete all partitions in it and format it?

You have another Windows 7 PC. Please plug in the external in it and post the Partition Wizard screenshot.
