Mouse and/or laptop sit quietly then the screen jumps up or down for no reason, nothing touched. Where to start looking?

Hi, do you mean the whole display on the screen shifts- or what?
For example, if you're just looking at the desktop, no windows open, what do you see happen?
Please advise if the same happens
a. If you boot to Safe Mode
b. if you perform a clean boot
c. with and without the mouse connected
History (so often omitted)
- when did this start happening?
- what change occurred around that time?

Thanks to dalchina for response. I have had trouble tying this down to simple descriptive facets. But at last realised it could be my mouse. Replacing it with a simple Microsoft 'Sculpt' Mobile Mouse; model 1569 seems to do the trick. Four or so hours in and no jumping about of screen. This mouse is an old one used with a older, now-unused laptop. Not so nice to hold but works.
