Why USB hub is slow in comparison to direct port of PC

My Pendrive become very slow when I attach it to USB hub in comparison to if I attach to direct usb port of PC. Is there any way out so that USB hub could work as same as direct USB port of PC. My Windows is Win 10 64 bit.

I am using port powered USB Hub. My port and pendrive both are 3.0 and on that port I am using only one device.

Sorry I forgot to mention that my USB Hub is 2.0 and it is attached to 3.0 Port and my pendrive ia also 3.0. Do I need to buy USB 3.0 Hub and that also Electricity powered or normal port powered will also do.

You can plug a USB 3.0 cable into a USB 2.0 socket, however, internally they are different.
The USB 2.0 connector has 4 pins while the USB 3.0 one has 9 pins.


With the extra pins USB 3.0 is up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0.

The 'thing' about electronic devices is they tend to operate at the speed of the slowest part which is why using all USB 3 is faster than a mix of USB 2 and USB 3. About the only things needing USB 1.1 or 1.0 are mice and keyboards, maybe Web cameras but don't see many of those. Each succeeding Version of USB is supposed to be backward compatible with the slower but only at those slower speeds.
