Hi guys i have just upgraded my laptop HD to a 1g SSD
Is it safe to partition this ssd without loosing the operating system that's already installed, and if so what program do you recommend

Must be easy to use a hopefully free as i will only need it once

I could use the disk management tool but i done understand the disk sizes i just need about 300 on the C drive and the rest for data

Hi, you can of course resize and move partitions to create a data partition on your disk.

Using these, you move, resize, add partitions- look at the image, check it's ok, then click 'Apply'.
Nothing actually happens until you do that.
youtube videos will be available if you search for them.

Minitool Partition Wizard is one such.

    - and remember to start routinely using disk imaging of at least all O/S partitions as soon as you can - e.g. Macrium Reflect (free) + large enough external storage for image files. And you can turn System Restore on. Great when it works.
