    Samsung V-NAND SSD 970 Evo Plus MVMeM.2 500GB

ON boot ups started getting messages on screen (C) stage 1 fixing, stage 2 fixing, windows repairing. Am I losing my SSD drive? It happened yesterday on boot up and today. Just did another boot up, and no repeat.

Samsung magician says health good. SMART self test says completed successfully. Perf Benchmark - successful

I don't recall seeing Windows messages like that, but I could just be lucky.

Googling "stage 1 fixing" gives quite a few hits.

Chkdsk running at start up can indicate that corruption has been detected in the ntfs file structure that need fixing, it can also happen after a hard shutdown where the 'dirty bit' for the drive would have been left set. Did you recently have a BSoD, for example?

Samsung magician says health good. SMART self test says completed successfully.

That indicates that the SSD is healthy. Any corruption would have therefore been logical errors in ntfs rather than hardware errors. If it happens again you should investigate the health of your installed Windows (eg SFC /ScanNow and Dism's RestoreHealth option) rather than the health of the SSD.

Run SFC Command in Windows 10
Use DISM to Repair Windows 10 Image

Thanks guys. ignatz: not exactly a windows message, it comes up on the black boot in screen before the actual boot where the MB logo is displayed.

    Scannow result before reboot:

    Reboot completed nothing reported

This is after running DISM (7)

    Rebooted again, nothing reported

DISM log saved in Docs dism.log - Google Drive

    I hope thats enough???

This indicates that problems were found, but could not be repaired - usually because the component store was also corrupt.

    This is after running DISM....

You specified a source that does not exist, so it failed. The command Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth should work on its own, you normally don't need to use any other switches. As long as you are connected to the internet Dism can get any replacement files it needs from the MS download servers.

When Dism has run successfully the component store will have been repaired, but you'll need to run SFC /ScanNow again to repair the system from the (now) healthy component store.

this one reports good health no problems - Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
this one reports total success Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

AFTER these two I ran scannow - did not find any errors

Can I assume problem fixed, but dont know how ????

Thankfully I dont need a new SSD drive -

I'll keep a wary eye open ........................................ love you all.

Sorry If I seem to throw a lot of glitches you're way, its my mind, no memory left, must upgrade.

Yes, the system says it now has a clean bill of health. The chkdsk you saw before would almost certainly have been for logical errors rather physical ones so you can assume a health SSD too. Looks good to go.....

I never get a random auto Chkdsk scan like that. That is a very bad sign with NTFS. Heck, even with me holding down the power button multiple times due to loss of response, because I was tweaking my Radeon RX 5600XT GPU core, still no auto Chkdsk run.
