Windows intermittently shuts down after entering Sleep Mode
Hi all,
Recently over the past few weeks my computer hasn't been able to enter sleep mode properly. I've got a bit of a strange PC build, which I'm sure is partly to blame, but seen as the problem is only fairly recent I'm not sure how to diagnose or begin to find out what's causing it. My computer has a top end 2012 motherboard and overclocked CPU (i5 Ivy Bridge), but with a very recent 5600 XT Graphics Card.
The problem: I enter sleep mode through the start menu, the computer displays go to sleep as normal - but then the computer still remains humming (all fans, lights, etc) as if it's ignoring the command or something is preventing it. About several minutes later the computer decides to shut down; and there is nothing I can do whilst it is in this state to wake it back up.
I've tried a lot of solutions some with success and some without, but like the title of this post says this problem is very intermittent. There is occasionally times I can sleep the computer and nothing happens, but the problem is that there's no real pattern to differentiate the times it sleeps from the time it doesn't (e.g. certain programs open, etc). At first I entered the advanced power settings and changed a lot of the options in there, multimedia sleeping, processor state, and more (I've tried almost everything here), which I thought succeeded when I changed the multimedia options: eventually to no avail. Next I updated my display drivers, something I'd not done in a while, which worked for a single sleep before reverting back to shutting down. I still think the problem could be display driver related hence the Frankenstein PC build, but like I said problems have only arisen very recently.
Now in event viewer these shut downs are in fact logged as a 6008; and my computer is completely up to date as far as I know, my Windows OS Build being 19042.964. I hope this info will help.
