have just shrunk the size of the c partition and created a partiotion for a d drive to see what impact it has. In summary :-
- Disk management and explorer show the C partition as 450.34 GB
- system -> settings -> storage reports it as 902GB
- For the D Drive, disk management, explorer and settings / storage all report the correct size of 25GB
so for some unexplained reason storage settings is always reporting the c drive as double its actual size. Any ideas?
Just for info I had this bug on a couple of Dev flights which was corrected on an update. 'Manage Disks and Volumes' in settings showed the correct values though.
A bug that I have noticed and reported several times over the YEARS might be related to this. It turns out that, except for the EFI partition, any partition that doesn't have a drive letter associated with it has its space reported by the Storage algorithm as part of free disk space on C: . I dual-boot with Linux, which is how I discovered the problem - I finally figured out that the excess space reported on C: exactly matched the size of my Linux partition(s). The algorithm that calculates disk space on C: is flat out broken, wrong, buggy, bush league stupid. And MS hasn't seen fit to fix it in years. You'd think an intern could fix it in an hour.
This isn't your exact problem, but I'll bet it's somehow related. Might as well get over it, because MS won't fix it.
