Laptop SSD Failed Start Up - "Cannot be Repaired"

TJR, why don't you reinstall win 7 and win 10 on the SSD and move win 7 \users and win 10 \users to the HDD?

On the SSD divide it in two partitions
- First Half to Win 10
- Second Half to Win 7
Install win 7 first

On the HDD, create 3 partitions.
- One partition for win 7 \Users (about 10 GB)
- One partition for win 10 \Users (about 10 GB)
- Remaining disk space for a data partition to be accessed by win 7 and win 10

There is no ongoing need for W7, but it has been helpful while trying to solve this sudden W10 startup problem. I was optimistic that we could find a less time consuming way to fix W10 other than a complete re-install of the OS and the other programs. Thanks for helping me give it a try. (Also, I'm hopeful that the 5-year-old SSD is not failing, but so far, other than the mysterious startup failure, the drive seems to be OK.)

I did use Kari's excellent tutorial to setup the current configuration with the user folders on the HDD. Although this is my first thread, Ten Forums (and Seven before it) has been a great resource for me!

Unless someone has other ideas to try, I will begin the reinstall when I return from next-week's BBQ trip to Memphis.
