Cant get mouse to wake up computer

It might depend upon the type of mouse, if wired USB or PS/2 it should work but if the wireless type is it using a dongle that came with the mouse or is it a Bluetooth connection [no dongle]? Have you checked the Power Options for the connection that are being turned off when the computer is going to sleep?

Try Berton's and Calm Horizon's ideas first before running those Dell diagnostics :)

Check this tutorial to verify wake from device status. Your mouse and/or keyboard may not have the option or it just requires a tweak to function.

Another place to check. Open a Command Prompt copy & paste the following followed by enter.

Code:

powercfg /devicequery wake_programmable

If your mouse or USB dongle doesn't appear, you may not have the option.


FYI, the two commands above the red line were performed while my wireless mouse was configured to use the onboard Bluetooth option in my laptop, no external BT USB transceiver connected. The mouse has no ability to wake from sleep.

The two commands below the red line were performed after disabling the onboard Bluetooth option and then installing and pairing an external USB Bluetooth dongle. The mouse now successfully wakes PC from sleep.

I find it interesting to see all the additional results when the external USB BT is installed and paired.

I can't find any feature of KB or Mouse to wake up computer ie pressing keys or shaking mouse).
The only thing that works is to press the power button.

Device Manager for mouse is checked in Power Management for "Allow this device to wake the computer".

What else can I try?

Also, check to see if there's an available option to 'Allow the computer to turn off this device...' and make certain it's not checked.
