UEFI does not recognize USB Boot drive

Have you got the latest version from https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/soft...load/windows10 free. download and let windows create the usb a lot have problems download the iso and trying to get it on usb by other software the usb should have uefi folder when done you have set in the bios to boot usb or it wont boot ?

All most all pcs have an option in the BIOS boot menu to boot USB but you need the USB plugged in before you turn it on or it won't show

In addition to disabling the Secure Boot and Fast Start in a BIOS it usually helps to set the USB to Legacy. Most BIOSes have support for USB 2 ports and devices in them but not for USB 3 which needs the OS loading their drivers, an exception would be the newer combination ports that support both USB 2 and USB 3. I have a 13" Notebook with only 2 ports and both have SS with the 'trident' logo that signifies USB 3 capability.

I use the MCT to create a more-current USB drive now and then, it automatically deletes the partition on it, creates a new partition, formats as FAT32 and then installs what is needed. I use an 8GB for the single format of 32-bit or 64-bit or a 16GB for the combination of both formats. The FAT32 format with Windows has a maximum size limit of 32GB.

If you log into Windows with a Microsoft Account it may be stored in your account since that's the default save option. It's also where I chose to keep mine for safe keeping.

Finding your BitLocker recovery key in Windows 10 - if you use the link within the article, it will take you directly to the section where the keys are stored; otherwise you have to hunt for them - From Account home page, click "Devices" chose the PC or which you need to key (if you have more than one PC using a Microsoft account). Click the "Manage" drop down box, click "Get BitLocker recovery keys"

As for USB and UEFI, if you created the USB drive using the Media Creation Tool (as I do) you don't need to disable Fast Start or Secure Boot (I don't).

I simply chose UEFI install from the USB drive and it works without issue. At least that's how its worked for me with my Gigabyte boards.

Not sure what that means? Have you checked the account or not???

And if you encrypted the drive you "had" to choose a save location in order to proceed with the encryption process, even it you chose to save in your MS account. Your problem is you don't know where you put it. And the key wouldn't be on the encrypted drive because BitLocker doesn't allow you to say the to the drive being encrypted.

But yes, you can't access the drive without a unlocking it. And you can't unlock without a Key. With that, and without a key, the only way to access the drive is to wipe it and all the contents with it. Remember the purpose of an encrypted drive is to secure the contents from unauthorized users.

Go into the BIOS and make sure Legacy USB is enabled. If the issue persists, you may have to find or borrow a PS2 keyboard (provided the motherboard supports PS2 ports) or USB to PS2 adapter.
