Driver updating software?
Hi,
Anyone used a driver updater that looks for new driver software updates? Could please recommend any? I was using Avast Driver Updater, but I'm wanting something better.

You should avoid using that type of third-party app for scanning and obtaining device updates.
If your computer needs driver updates and is a self-built one, you should obtain them at its motherboard's support site.
If your computer is a factory-brand one, you should obtain them at its support site.
You can also obtain them at the device's vendor site (AMD, Intel, NVIDIA, Realtek, etc.).
I don't use such sites. I rely on Windows update to keep drivers up to date. Every 6 months or so I peruse the motherboard suppliers site and the OEM sites for key peripherals like printers, mouse, GPU etc to see if there are later drivers.
Snappy Driver Installer Origin (the Origin version is essential. Being open source, other "Snappy Driver Installers" are just junk copies).
But should be used ABSOLUTELY ONLY when a driver is missing or is faulty. Despite the fact that it does provide the service, NEVER, EVER use a driver program just for the sake of an update, simply because they say another driver is available.
Use with discretion and use judiciously. Random updates for the sake of it frequently end in tears, and the user is soon back in this forum looking for a solution.

If you don't have problems, why go looking for driver updates?
What do you gain by trying to update drivers when your PC is working well?
Do you perhaps hope for some magical 30% speed increase?
The ONLY possible reason I might use a driver updater tool is if all other ways of trying to find a particular driver have failed.
Bottom line: if all is well, using one will gain you nothing and put you at risk.
Well, I have long since forgotten the following tool:

Simply put, drivers are best left up to the system to manage, and then to the Vendor. Any other source is superfluous and potentially dangerous.
A common term for 3rd party Driver Updaters or Boosters or Do-it-alls is Snake Oil, in any language.
