Restarted after an hour.....now at 27% Working on Updates.

Sorry for the running commentary....I'm not usually this stressed about it. I will let it do it's thing.

Nothing to be sorry about. We all like to know how things are going in long processes. Just a curiosity thing, to make sure all is ok. May I ask where you got your ISO and what version was it?

How come no one suggested a disk check (logical and SMART) to see if the drive is healthy?

So now I'm concerned. It has been showing a black screen with white mouse pointer for 7 hours now (overnight). It rebooted again at about 30% Checking for updates, the again about 55%...

I downloaded the iso with the Media Creation Tool.

    What are my options?

I'm not sure what you mean by disk I/O light. The light under the power button is still flashing intermittently. There's a red LED on the motherboard flashing in sync with it. I can't hear any disk activity as it's all NVME.

Yes, that is the Disk I/O light, input/output activity.

What do you get if you do a CTRL+ALT+DEL ?

If you can't get an options screen with the 3-key option, only thing left for you to do is power down, wait 15 seconds, power up. Sometimes, repeat sometimes, it will pick up where it was.
