    Epson WF-2830 Printer Settings.

I'm trying to get a new Epson WF-2830 printer to save the 2 sided printer setting as default. When I make the change the Apply box never highlights. I can only click on OK. This works for the present print job only. If I start another print job it defaults back to 1 sided printing. I have tried everything I can think of including deleting and reinstalling the driver and all the Epson software several times. Installing just the driver from Epson installs it as a scanner and using Add Printer in Windows adds a basic Windows driver with no settings. This is happening on my desktop running build 21359 and my sons computer running the latest build of Windows 10. Anyone know of a way to change the default of this printer from 1 sided to 2 sided printing permanent?

My Epson XP-960, which also does double 2-sided printing does the same thing. I think it does that to insure your prints don't get messed up if you "didn't" want 2-sided prints. I never print 2-sided but did so for this test. And yes it defaults back to single sided after the print job is done. Here's my 2-sided printing settings...

Anyway, you can call Epson's tech support to double check this but I'm sure it's standard behavior.

    Let me know.

Thanks for checking to see if your Epson software had the same problem. Epson needs to update their software to give the user the option of saving any changes made in the settings. My last WorkForce printer was a very reliable printer for years. When it died I replaced it with a HP printer. Walmart didn't have much of a choice so I bought the best one they had. It was imposable to setup wirelessly so I had to use my laptop and a usb cable to get it connected to my router. My desktop is in another room. Then I found that to do 2-sided printing I had to manually flip the pages. Being happy with my old WorkForce printer I decided to go back to a Epson printer so I ordered the one from Amazon. The printer itself seem to be OK but I can't say much for their software.

My HP LaserJet Pro and OfficeJet Pro [both are multi-function] have the setting in Devices and Printers and right-click Printer Properties in the middle of the menu, not the bottom Properties. There is an Preferences button that has the choice for 2-sided printing, has always stayed. The settings in Print in a program such as WordPerfect, WordPro, Word, etc., are only for that time and usually only for that document.

To amend my original post.... I just found that the 2-sided settings on mine DOES stick!!! Even after the print job is done, and the machine is powered off.

That said, my printer (Epson XP-960) is strictly wireless (Wi-Fi), and for some reason (which I can't explain), I have two Epson XP-960's in my Devices and Printers.

Anyway, the printer I use to print my documents - Epson5CC810 (XP-960) does have 2-sided chosen and it does stick. With that I would suggest you check Devices and Printers panel to see if you the same phenomenon.

    Let me know.

I don't know how but I seem to have the 2-sided print set as the default. I did have the printer listed more than once. I deleted all of them before trying the last install. I use my Brother laser printer for most of my printing. I only use the Epson when I need color prints. My son went back to Community College and needs to be able do 2-sided color printing more than me.

For the 2 printers showing, sometimes the Fax has its own and sometimes a driver update will cause it. I usually Remove Device on one and see what happens.

So the issue is thus solved?

Mine doesn't do fax. And yeah the driver installed 2 printers - don't know why and haven't looked into it. Anyway, I'll do some experimenting at a later date where I remove one and see what happens to the other. For now, not an issue, and thus not a high priority.

BTW, I've only seen the double printer install with my wireless Epson XP-960. All my other printers never did this, including my current Epson 3380 photo printer. That said, only the XP-960 is wireless.

Edit: I "think" one of the 960 listings might be for scanning. I think I removed one of those printer in the past and my scanner ceased to function.

After a few restarts today when I checked printing preferences it list 2-sided auto long edge as the default. I haven't tried printing. Before you delete any printers rename one and see which one is your default printer. It may not matter but it will better your chances of not having to reinstall your printer.
