Mouse exceptionally slow

HID-Compliant Mouse


My mouse movement is exceptionally slow.


When I first got this computer a few months back, I had a hard time settling on a mouse, finally decided to stick with a good old fashioned wired usb. Every time I switched mice, I had to increase the pointer speed in mouse properties. It's currently at max, but, up until yesterday, that was fine, it was the speed I wanted it to be.


Yesterday, I had to replace my monitor, went from 1080p to 2160p. But, wow, everything is too small for my old eyes. So, I have the monitor resolution set for 1920x1080, so it looks like it did before. But, now, it makes the mouse even slower!


I've unplugged the mouse, and uninstalled the driver from device manager, and re-plugged in the mouse, but this made no difference (control panel still has me at insufficient max speed). What else can be done to reset the mouse speed, or otherwise speed the tracking up?

already furthest to the right, max fast. That's what I was trying to imply when I said I increased speed in mouse properties. Sorry if I was not clear! Thanks for the response!

The switching of mice is what's been part of the problem. The mouse speed control panel item stays at it's current level, despite every time I've tried a different mouse, it reduces to default speed (typically, I like it two clicks above the default). That's why I'm hoping for a way to reset the mouse back to default. Thanks again for your input!

I've done wireless, that was my first try, the one that came with this computer, decided it didn't fit my needs, and switched back to wired. Bluetooth is certainly a possibility, but, damn I hope I get used to the slower mouse speed (if needed) before I actually have to buy new hardware (that may or may not solve the issue!)

Registry already shows speed 20. But, that brings up an interesting thought. Is this reg key safe to delete? If I delete it, and reboot, is this a key that will automatically be re-created in it's default form (ie, 10)? Might this solve the issue?
