Fast little USB thumb drive.

Just got one of these. It arrived today.
Macrium Reflect accepts it as a place to save a backup. My backups are about 16GB, so I tested it's speed at defaults and for 16GB sized files.

Pretty fast.











I had it in a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type A, port.

If I attach to a PC that doesn't have UASP support the speeds you show are about what I get for a ~US$100 item (256GB NVMe M.2 in a USB 3.1/Thunderbolt 3 NVMe enclosure). If I plug it into a PC with UASP capability, those speeds double. Curious to know if you can try that for yourself (you'll need a 2018 PC or laptop or newer, most likely).

Fast, the theoretical limit for "Gen. 1" speed is 640 MB/s.

But probably after some use there will be occasional drops of speed in normal use, as it happens in all UFDs [probably due to the lack of optimization and background cleaning operations].

I have no clue what UASP is, but this comp was newly built in May 2020.
AMD X570 chipset motherboard.

OK, just read up on UASP. My comp supports it.

Keep in mind though that those speeds are the max. the "device" itself supports.

Check if your USB 3.0 device supports USB Attached SCSI (UAS) Protocol

As stated earlier, UAS Protocol will be used by Windows 8 and later only if your USB 2.0/3.0 mass storage device supports it and your USB chipset/firmware support it.

My chipset definitely supports it. I doubt the device does. Or if it does... it's already in use.

Yes, true and you can use CrystalDiskInfo to check to see if a device supports it:

If you can use a UASP connection your USB access speeds will usually top out at around 1 Gbps instead of 0.5 Gpbs. I've confirmed this on numerous PCs and laptops recently myself.
