Indeed! From what we were told, I don't think the combined load of all those devices would tax a 15A capable power strip. And even if it did (someone hung 3 electric heaters on the far end), the circuit breaker/fuse should blow before any cable overloads. If all the strips can handle 15A (or whatever the normal rating is in Germany), then there should be no fire hazard. That said, all those serial connections are a potential source of problems. For me, that is the reason not to daisy-chain them.
Actually, it did crash on me one more time after changing the setup. While updating my PC backup. Which didn't even take that long, like, an hour at most (it had been a while since the previous backup). :/
But that was the only time. Not sure if that means the drive is faulty after all, or what. Admittedly I haven't been using it much compared to other drives.
No more problems with that 12 TB drive at all though which had the same problem before changing my power strip setup. That one works perfectly.

Looking back I don't recall you mentioning about what kind and brand power strips you have. Did you have good quality name brand ones.
I bought 10 Tripp Lite power strips in the last four years. I have never had a problems with any of them.
I have three external hard drives plugged into one 6-outlet Tripp Lite power strip.
- Seagate Expansion Desktop 2TB (April 2014)
- Western Digital My Book 6TB (Feb 2017))
- Western Digital Elements 12TB (April 2020)
The WD My Book 6TB and WD Elements 12TB drives are used for daily backups. The drives are always plugged. They normally sleep but wake up when required.
BTW, sometime between 15 and 20 years I had a new circuit installed in the room that has all my computer equipment except my laptops. That probably helps some also.
