Mouse sometimes disconnects immediately after launching Opera Browser!

My mouse disconnects and reconnects on rare occasions, something I believe is not a hardware issue or a loose USB connection, which I had initially thought.

I use Waterfox Classic Web Browser by default and mouse never disconnects. I kept a note of all the dates when the mouse disconnected.

18th of January: Immediately after launching Opera Web Browser

10th of February: Immediately after launching Opera Web Browser

05th of March: Immediately after launching Opera Web Browser

03th of April: Immediately after launching Opera Web Browser

It turns out that immediately after launching Opera Web Browser, on some rare occasions, like once a month the mouse will disconnect and then reconnect again within 1 second! I have no idea what the problem is, but at least I can rule out my Mars Gaming MM5 being faulty because it is happening only upon launching Opera.

With Waterfox this doesn't happen ever. The issue seems to be some conflict with Opera and my mouse only. Xbox One Controller and keyboard never disconnect. In the past this was not happening. It's an issue that started last 6 months approximately.

I tried looking at Youtube videos that suggested going to Power Management mode and unchecking the box where it says "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power", none of these methods have worked at all so far.

Having to look in your My Computer to see what mouse you are using [Mars Gaming MM5 16400DPI] I'd ask if you've tried a different wired mouse and if you get the same result. Also would ask if the game is running or not when opening Opera. Just unplug the mouse before starting the computer and plug in another more "generic", don't have to uninstall anything as Windows will pick up the different mouse. Have you checked on the game's Web site for a forum, maybe other players have the same/similar issue?

No, I have not tried a different wired mouse. But I think it is software conflict that triggers this to happen. It happened again 2 days ago from Opera launch.

I'm not actually playing any particular game other than online chess namely Lichess.org. But I've been playing there last 5 years and I've had this mouse for a good few years now.

Have not tried plugging into another USB port yet. Btw, my mouse is plugged into a USB 3.1 port, not sure if that has anything to do with it seeing that it is a USB 2.0 mouse. But keyboard and gamepad is also plugged in those ports and it never triggers it.

It's a half a second disconnect, it is not a deal-breaker. But I'm curious to know what causes it to happen.

Everything else doesn't trigger it. I can play Steam, Origin and all kinds of PC games without the mouse disconnecting, ever. It is random and happens only on rare occasions upon Opera launch, which is why it is so difficult to pinpoint the trigger.

Using Waterfox Classic Web Browser for hours, weeks, etc hasn't triggered the mouse disconnect on a single occasion ever last one year since using it!

I believe it must be a Chrome engine bug. Had this happen in Google Chrome as well a few months ago, but was confused if it was simply a mouse cable disconnecting. But this time I can confirm after further testing, that this will occur only after the initial browser launch. And after that it will not disconnect again!
