usb xhci compliant host controller (code 10)

    Hello,

I've had this issue before but don't know how I solved it. It was in 2018 I created a thread about it on here.

I'm going to install two windows updates that have come up with hopes of it fixing the issues:

    2021-01 Update for Windows 10 Version 20H2 for x64-based Systems (KB4589212)

2021-02 Cumulative Update Preview for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10, version 20H2 for x64 (KB4601554)

    Edition: Windows 10 Pro
    Version: 20h2
    Installed on: 29/11/2020
    OS Build: 19042.867

Motherboard: ASUSTeK Computer INC. P8Z68 DELUXE (LGA1155)

    S24D300 (1920x1080@60Hz)
Intel HD Graphics (ASUStek Computer Inc)
1535MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 (ASUStek Computer Inc) 33 °C
    ForceWare version: 391.35
    SLI Disabled

I have a system restore point from a week ago which I see has edited all my drivers and will restore them to a previous version. Have there been any windows updates recently that edit drivers or cause issues?

I did a sfc scan now and it did not find any issues.

Are you sure you got that number right? LGA1155

Asus site should have updated chipset driver for your motherboard, but socket you specified does not match anything.

No I'm not sure. I use speccy to get the system specs of my pc. Which other tool should i use to be certain? Its an asus motherboard that I'm certain about.

Here is the driver manager info https://i.imgur.com/SnWxrpM.png

The one highlighted showed up twice and was showing error status 10, I removed it and it hasn't shown up again but instead shows now the driver at the bottom of the list with error code 10.

Basically I can't use the front usb ports which are part of the pc tower case. Maybe the cable connecting this to the motherboard is lose somehow?

    Try this driver:
    https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/m...01658_1-5M.zip

close down all programs, install driver, and reboot system.

if not working try Intel identification utility, and use it to update system:
Download Intel(R) Processor Identification Utility - Windows* Version

If nothing works use optional driver updates:
Settings app -> Updates & Security -> view optional updates -> driver updates

Find latest "Intel - System" driver and try it out (if there is one)

If none of this works, know that your system isn't ready for Windows 10 and that could be your issue.
