USB stick not recognised by Windows?

Windows 10 home fully updated: I have a usb 2 stick that came with a hardware package, the stick is supposed to have the needed software and manual on it. My problem is that Windows does not see the stick ( it doesn't exist ). I was wondering if there was a way to get Windows to see the stick so I can access the data?

Any advice or help would be very much appreciated.

Define 'doesn't exist'. Obviously you can't see it in File Explorer, else you wouldn't be asking. But do you see the 'eject media' icon appear in the taskbar notification area when it is plugged in? Make sure you click the ^ icon to look in the 'hidden icons'.

If so, then open Disk Management. Does it appear there? Does it show as having a healthy partition, usually Fat32? Is it missing a drive letter? If so, right-click on its partition and set a drive letter, then you will be able to see it in File Explorer.

If the answer to all the above questions is 'No' then try it in another usb port, or if available on another PC. Bear in mind that usb sticks can fail without warning, it may simply be faulty.

Tried it in 2 different desktop PC's, the usb is not seen in explorer or in safely remove hardware.
On further checking 'devices and printers' it is shown, but nowhere else so cannot be accessed?
Tried trouble shooting but no joy?

In USB controllers, it shows the stick with an error message " Device Descriptor Request Failed".

Right clicking the device brings up this message, "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) A request for the USB device descriptor failed".
