Misbehaving DVD drive

I don't quite follow what the problem is. In order for you to be able to view the contents, you first need an Office ISO available, then you simply Mount the ISO to view the contents.

You would also need to have the Product Key available. One option is . . .

How and what Drivers are you trying to inject into the ISO? One way to achieve this would be to use DISM.

Place an empty DVD disk (non-rewritable) into the physical Optical drive. Follow the instructions on how to burn an .iso file to Disk in the link provided by @Paul Black (second link). You can't just copy an .iso file to disk for it to work.

File explorer does not recognise the DVD you have put in that drive.
- Perhaps the DVD drive is defective.
- Perhaps the DVD disk is defective.
- Perhaps the DVD disk has not been formatted.

It sounds to me as though you double-clicked on your Office ISO again instead of trying to copy its contents to a DVD.

Once you resolve these matters & have extracted your Office ISO contents to the DVD, you will get the same results as you got when you tried to install Office from a folder on your computer that contained the extracted ISO contents.
- Perhaps your Office ISO file is defective.

Desktop or laptop? Internal or external DVD player? At school, cannot read thru 5 pages right now. I am leaning toward suggesting: Eject whatever DVD is in player. Shutdown computer, unseat DVD player cabling both ends. CannedAir dust player (just a couple of quick bursts should do it) before reseating/recabling. Before inserting any DVD blank or DVD with stuff on it, power up computer, see if explorer sees DVD player. Explore properties. If no more freeze, must have been hardware, either DVD player or a bad DVD disc. If nothing improves, then I will listen in and await alongside you the wisdom and experience of others.

- There is no point in messing about with DVDs at all - it can run straight from where it is now.

2 What you have illustrated is a backup of your Office installation files. You can move the whole set elsewhere if you want but there is no need to.

When you mount your Office ISO image in a Virtual DVD, you can copy the files and place them in a folder on your computer or External HDD. When you want to install Office again, open the folder you saved and double click Setup.exe.
