I can't validate what you did, but I say again.... the Samsung 970 (and I have two) don't use SATA, they use PCI lanes.

What you claim you did, I'm not going to argue. That's what you claim, that's what you claim.

You may have to rely on Microsoft drivers, I don't think Samsung provides drivers for OEM SSDs.

The 970 Pro is NOT an OEM drive. And the OP said....

If it was an OEM drive it would have a listing like what Megahertz has in his "SM951" as opposed the the Samsung 950 Pro, which I also have.

And Samsung DOES provide drivers for the 970 Pro, and I know this because I have two 970 Pros installed in my main system, and 950 Pro in my backup system as shown in my system specs.

And even Samsung Magician is saying he needs the driver....

    Hello,
Magician message: The device is connected to the driver that Magician does not support: Use Samsung NVMe driver.
But, yes, the drive will function, but it may not perform well, and I'm not sure how TRIMM will work. Only time will tell.

With that (assuming the laptop does support "NVMe" instead of simple m.2 SATA drives) I wonder if the drive itself isn't damaged or a fake? It would also help if the OP posted an image of Magician showing the drive installed along with the error.

    @sygnus21,
You have misread my posts, my post(post 15) was aimed at @Megahertz who has a OEM SSD for which Samsung doesn't provide any Storage Controller drivers, as for the changing of SATA mode, some laptops have 3 options for SATA mode in BIOS and Samsung Storage controller driver can only be installed in AHCI mode.

In my experience you wont be able to use the samsung NVME driver alongside Intel RST drivers, personally though I wouldnt use the samsung driver, samsung seem more interested in performance vs stability. You might get an extra 1-2% performance but at what cost?

The windows storage NVME driver has the most widespread use.

If you're talking the downloadable Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver, that would be wrong as many of us (me included) have done what you claim can't be done - use them in conjunction with NVMe drives - and the NVMe driver.

And I don't know anyone who uses a Samsung (one of the most popular brands) drive complaining about stability. I have a total of 4 NVMe drives (two 970 Pro's, one 960 Pro, one 950 Pro) and, 7 SSD drives, and NOT one of them had or has any stability (or performance) issues

    BTW....

Windows has an in-box driver that ensures your Samsung NVMe SSD is operational from the start, but we recommend installing the Samsung NVMe Driver specifically designed for Samsung NVMe SSDs, to ensure optimal performance and to maximize compatibility with your system.

At the end of the day is the NVMe driver a "must", maybe not, but its certainly recommended.

I can't confirm or deny this. That said, my Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga came with a 1TB NVMe drive installed, but it's using a Microsoft driver.

And I don't have the option to change modes looking at my BIOS as I write this post.

    Thanks.

In storage controller i had only the intel one and i wanted to add the Samsung one . so i find from the asus website this ([Notebook] Troubleshooting - How to fix the problem that cannot find drives when installing Windows 11/10 | Official Support | ASUS South Africa) . i went to bios and Disabled the Intel Volume Management Device (VMD) technology . After that i was able to install the Samsung drivers.
