Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) No Drive Letter

Problem: Tablet is not detectable by computers. Yet... it is noted as "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" in device manager under Universal Serial Bus controllers.

Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) No Drive Letter-2021-03-18-11_31_17-device-manager.jpg

I have already done the basic 30 articles reading and tried the standard suggestions including:
    • Try a new USB connection (wire, computer, etc).;
    • uninstall the device,
    • update drivers,
    • download drivers,
    • use disk manager to set a drive letter,
    • use file recovery software.

In fact, disk manager does not see it.
The file recovery software does not see it.

The only thing that sees it is the USB Serial Bus controller; and that says "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)". So.... it knows it exits, yet drive management tools can not seem to detect it. Today, after some months or year of 6th-letter-ing with this issue I've discovered an additional trick to try as seen below:

Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) No Drive Letter-2021-03-18-11_31_40-administrator_-windows-powershell-x86-.jpg
Neither of those is the tablet hardrive. One is C: drive SSD for windows, and the other SATA D: drive. Supposedly what we're looking for there is a 3rd drive which would have Partition Style: "RAW".

The device is not dead -- It is a Samsung Note 10.1 GT-N2013 -- I know this, because I can access oden mode, and until recently I could use it without USB connection. Because of all this, I did attempt to customize it by deleting some "Google" files via Superuser root file manager. So, before you ask, that is a separate issue which is now preventing any tablet side access. What I need is to fix the original USB problem, which has been ongoing for a very long time. I am only here asking now because I can no longer use it as a tablet and to fix I need to flash a ROM onto it -- which of course would require me to fix the original USB access issue.

I'd be happy with anything that helps get beyond the USB, to actually detecting the drive. I can upload my ROM via Oden mode IF I can get a computer to see that it has a drive. I did take it into the computer shop and that computer also could not access via USB.

It does see it as an incoming USB connection, and the tablet has a working drive -- but critical files were recently, after this problem, deleted. I'd be happy to reformat (or something) if only we could establish a connection.

    Any ideas?

    That didn't work:
Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) No Drive Letter-2021-03-18-13_35_04-unknown-usb-device-device-descriptor-request-failed-properties.jpg
As you can see, it has no ID.
The computer knows it's there, it just doesn't know what it is.
Kind of like the people who require us to have ID, and pay taxes "For what? I don't know" ~Bob Marley.

I mistakenly recalled the device model as an N2013. Sorry about that, It's a GT-N8013.

I have already found and downloaded the drivers and additional Samsung Kies driver-and-connectivity software as well -- which it didn't come with.
This Samsung GT-N8013, takes the energy and it charges, but it won't identify itself so the drivers won't give it ride.

V2 and DiskParInfo logs are attached.
Did you want the DM log? It say's not to do that unless instructed to.

    * Image resizing? I can't seem to access the "double click to edit image settings" feature. Double clicking the thumbnail (uploaded image) does a loading screen with no visible results, and double clicking the full sized (imported from URL) does nothing at all except select it with blue highlight.

Were there any backup EaseUS or Lazesoft images to restore?

    1) Run:
Tuneup.bat - Click here to go to the BSOD batch repository to download and run this batch file.

    2) Run HD Tune (free version) (all drives)

    4) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    chkdsk /b /v
This may take hours to run so plan to run overnight.
Run on all drives using the syntax: chkdsk /b /v C: or chkdsk /b /v D: changing the drive letter to the applicable drive.

    C:\Windows\system32>chkdsk /b /v
The type of the file system is NTFS.
    Cannot lock current drive.

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be
checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)

    Type: Y

This problem is about 2 years older than my first experience with EaseUse or Lazesoft. Both of those were very recent.; but yes, I recently made a Lazesoft restore image, which will only put me back a few weeks.

As I download and install these programs, before I go and do all that, did you catch remember: This problem exists for the computer at the electronics shop as well, so I was guessing the odds of it being my PC are not likely.

What I was dreaming of was some sort of program which can see the USB connection the same way that device manager sees it, and then to somehow use that to format the disk, even though it has no ID and no letter -- sort of a "USB >> skip recognition >> format!" software. That's what I was guessing might be the go. But we can keep at this if you think it'll work.

P.S. without having tried it yet, chkdsk
"changing the drive letter to the applicable drive."
There is no drive letter so I guess I can't do that.

I have gotten device descriptor failure when using a usb 1.0 cable before. So for me was a cable communication issue, like the cable was not good enough to work with the usb flash drive.
