    External HDD recognized as system I'VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS!


    This is crazy..

    Ok so I reset my computer not too long ago, and I must've had my external drive plugged in because now my computer sees it as a system drive. I literally have 2 different versions of "Download, Documents, etc" and things get moved, deleted, and messed with all the time. I don't know what to do. I have PGP keys getting deleted and stuff like that can NOT be happening. Anybody have any idea what's going on. Any help is greatly appreciated because I just got everything up and running how I like it, and things installed again. I'd rather not have to reset my computer AGAIN.

    Does your PC boot up normally without the external drive plugged-in? If so then the PC is OK in itself so try using the PC for a while without the external drive plugged-in.
    Then use another computer to copy anything you need from the external drive and then do a full format (not a 'Quick' format) on it.

    Only plug the external drive in when needed and unplug after use.

    Also have you checked your boot configuration? In the search box type 'msconfig' and look at the 'Boot' tab to see if an external drive is listed. You should only see the C: drive.

    Please run this with the external drive plugged IN and post the results => DiskParInfo
