External HDD recognized as system I'VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS!

    Hey guys,
so I reset my computer recently. I had my external harddrive plugged in when windows was being installed. Now it wont do certain things without being connected, and I can't access certain files (even files like Documents, Pictures, etc). For some reason it'll still boot up into windows, but everything else seems tied to this external. It works when It's not plugged in too though, but I can't access ANYTHING.

This is a pic of the error message I get:

I don't understand. I've NEVER seen this problem before. If you could help, or even steer towards the direction of where I could get help I would be extremely grateful.

Thanks for listening and hope to hear from you soon,

    Shane

There's a number of posts describing the issues of having more than one drive [of any type] connected when installing Windows. I had it once where Windows picked up the AHCI/RAID setting in the BIOS when installed then removing the second drive broke the boot process. I ended up just reinstalling Windows with only the one drive attached.
