I don't understand why you are downloading a new copy of VueScan when are having problems. That will not solve your problems. To get rid of the watermarks you must activate VueScan. To do this you must enter the following information from your invoice
Because I only have to do this once every few years, and in the interim I forget how to do it!

Using a saved exe file and inputting the information for activation worked, thank you

Thanks everyone for your help and advice. Problem solved - until my memory fails me again in a few years. Though I have taken a note of my pertinent details and put it somewhere safe

I have a suggestion that might help you in the future. I would setup a Folder. In that Folder I would put the following . . .

    • The .exe file.
    • A Notepad file with the instructions on how to do this.
    • Include in the Notepad file a copy of the email address, AND, the text and links included in the email itself, along with the Activation Key, the Serial Number, and the Customer Number, just in case!
    • Copy the Folder to a couple of other locations in case one gets Deleted.

    I hope this helps.

Good information...I try to archive important information on all my software especially the ones I have paid for. That is how I was able to respond to the original post. You never know when you have to reinstall your software. I started doing this a long time ago after I got burned a few times.

BTW, VueScan has the following information in their help. This is also good information to archive with the other information about VueScan

How do I enter the information from my receipt?
    1) Run VueScan
    2) Use ‘Help | About’ command
To do this, click on the word ‘Help’ in the menu bar, then click on the word ‘About’ in the list that drops down under the word ‘Help’.
    3) Fill in the three boxes with the information from your receipt
    4) You’ll get a message that you’ve purchased VueScan
How do I enter the information from my receipt?

Another safeguard is to back up your computer. All this program information you archive is of no use if the drive it is on fails and all the information is lost.

Thanks, I was ahead of you with that one. I may be a bit slow to learn sometimes, but I do prefer not to have struggle through the same challenge twice .
