Modern laptops have intelligent charging systems and algorithms to keep the battery healthy so no need to unplug them. Mine even has different settings in BIOS for the intended use such as plugged in most of the time which will adjust the charging algorithm..

Yeah i noticed Battery care for my HP Omen Gaming Laptop in the UEFI bios, so far left at default, but might change that soon, so the battery gets it max life, as it's a royal pain to open this Laptop, in fact never got it open to do a dust clean out of the fans, as one darn screw stripped, despite the screwdriver i was using, worked fine for all other 9 screws lol

Leaving the laptop plugged in should not damage the battery. My HP laptop has a BIOS option which limits the maximum charge to 80% which HP claim improves battery life. You might want to use that setting if you have it.

Note any appliance left plugged into the mains is a fire risk and fire service advice is to always unplug unused appliances to minimise the fire risk.

    These are some additional considerations:
    a) If a surge protector is not used > disconnect power cord
    b) Multiple computer manufacturers have recalled power cables > end users may not have seen notices, risk becomes zero when disconnected

I always turn the surge protector switch to off.
Nothing will hold a lighting surge, even if the discharge happened very far away.

Yes, if not in use, unplug Laptop Charger cable.

Does everyone also unplug their TVs and Stereos when not in use?

Interesting. I have left everything electronic plugged in at my houses for 40 years that I can remember and I have had maybe 1 item fried due to power surge. I think it was a TV many years ago.
