    George,

See post #28 and #29. The other George knows how to post screenshots as he made post #29

Tell me what you want to share in a document and we'll go case by case. You already know how to share screenshots.

Until you try to assign the drive letter, everything else is just a possible distraction at this point.

@togel - this is today's next order of business for solving this caper .......

I am now on Disk Management and discovered that the Seagate volume was full. Something must have gone wrong during the formatting exercise yesterday...

Can you please try a different external drive.

OK, I have now named the Seagate "E" and it now shows on the explorer...

The disk was not full, it was in fact empty...

I suggest you make a full backup immediately. Maybe on two different external drives if this is your main important PC.

I can't think of anyone more welcome right now than you, Steve, - except for my lovely wife of course...
The bad news is that the dinner has to wait a while so we can get corona under control. With age I am very vulnerable and would probably not make it after an attack...

But back to our problem. I have not tested with another drive. Can I be sure the whole problem is resolved, and do I have tto assign the other drives as well? If understood the information correctly the name will be specifik and permanent for that drive and can not be used for the Verbatim?

    - - - Updated - - -

No, the Verbatim does now show on explorer...

OK, I named the Verbatim "F" and it also shows in explorer. Do I dare connect both portable drives to the PC now just to check if that works as well?

    George,
I'm joking with you about dinner of course. I don't visit anybody these days for social events. I predict there will be another spike as people get vaccinated and careless.

You can try to connect both or all at once. You should be able to do that if you wanted to and things are working correctly.

Yes, I was joking too but at the same time with seriousness if the world wasn't sick from corona. But do I understand it correctly that you are in America?

I will try to connect Segate and Verbativ first and see what happens.

But I have another issue as well that I don't feel safe to handle alone. I am running Office 2010 and sometimes I have problems with Outlook. I am therefore thinking about either buying the latest Outlook or change to Thuderbird. But that requires an extensive process of copying all old Outlook files and move them to the new program. I guess there are guide lines in Outlook about this, but it would feel better to have a supporting hand in the back ground...

OK, I will have lunch first and after that I will connect both drives and let you know the outcom.

    - - - Updated - - -

The lunch was not ready yet, but both drives show in explorer with the names I gave them. I have to do the same with the old LaCie which is a mowing disk and from the old Windows 95 and XP days...

Coming back to the back-up. Is it possible to do incremental back-up with Windows 10 or is it just mirror copy of the complete system with all programs installed and all files? To do that every week would require a very big drive unless there is an over flow function that deletes the oldest copies when the disk is full...
