Thanks, Steve, for that idea. My only concern is then I will loose the intact Windows 7 installation. Perhaps I will never need it again...

I mentioned earlier that I made a start-USB and downloaded an ISO file burned to a DVD. Is the start-USB and the ISO file the same tool or do they need each other to recover Windows after a crash?

Hi Tomcat. Thank you for your input. No, there was no verification - unless I missed it... "Image completed successfully in 01:30:25" in the confirmation pop up window was what I got from the system...

If you do not want to verify that this image has it's integrity, please consider doing a verify going forward. It would be a shame to spend the time doing a backup and find it useless when you need it.

As this was the first time I used MR it might be that I made mistakes or missed "marks in the box"

That's understandable. That's also why I include some pictures of where the options are. It was not a mistake, an oversight maybe, not a mistake.

Yes, I totally agree with you on that- even a very big disappointment...

I still have so many things to learn as the MR is a very advanced system with so many options. I used to run an Ashampoo 2016 backup program which was very simple so my experience in this field is very limited. It also complicates things that it is in English as some of the terms can be difficult to understand and a dictionary does not always translate in the right context...

I would encourage you to buy another USB thumb drive for the MR Rescue USB and have both thumb drives available. Very low priority, so don't pay extra to have it shipped fast or anything like that.

I doubt you'll ever need your Windows 7 - but what you could do once you have a MR Rescue USB is make an image of the Windows 7 HDD first before you use it to "test" your new MR image restoration.

I forget, so tell me again, how many internal physical drives are in your current PC that we've been working with?

In the PC there is only one SSD drive (Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500 GB) and only one partition if I understand Disk Management correctly. But that generates the G: question again as Crystal Diskinfo says unit letter C:G: on the Samsung...

My MR Rescue USB is using less than 1 GB, so 2 GB or larger should be fine. I would suggest buying 8 or 16 GB USB thumb drive in case you need it for other purposes like transferring files, etc.
