How to disable the touchpad on the HP envy x360

How can I disable the touchpad on an HP envy x360 15m-cn0011dx?

It is easy to find the right dialog to disable the touchpad on my other HP machines but on this one I haven't discovered where. I also have a zBook 15 and elitebook 840 G2 so I am somewhat familiar with how Windows 10 looks on HP machines.

Edit: I just realized I might have to install some HP specific drivers before the right dialog can be found. I will update this post or post a followup if I resolve it.

See if the information in this HP link applies to the model:

I installed the Synaptics driver 19.5.35.41 Rev.D. This was obtained from the HP website. This is the newest one.

After it installed the message was "not supported for this operating system". That's strange because the driver is described as suitable for Windows 10. The touchpad and mouse dialogs still appear to be lacking a Synaptics dialog which is where I would expect to find the "disable" touchpad option.

Hi, not all laptops necessarily have a ready means of doing this. This is one of those 'it depends' situations.
Considering Synaptics drivers for example- there are at least three versions which can look completely different.

This tutorial attempts to address this:
Enable or Disable Touchpad in Windows 10

In my case I had no option to do so. I did not have this in Settings:

I tried installing a precision touchpad driver, but this was not helpful and removed many options.
To my surprise, after I uninstalled it to revert to the Lenovo version of Synaptics, I found the options in Settings remained. (See comment after the tutorial).

This appears to be the drivers page for your device:

There is a precision driver there. Best to use the driver from your manufacturer.

If nothing else works, there is a free 3rd party utility that worked for me before I encountered the above: Touchpad blocker.

Please type winver in the left lower corner > display current windows version / build

Open device manager > click view > click show hidden devices > manually expand all rows > look for any row displaying a yellow triangle with black exclamation mark or unknown device

    Download and install both:
    HP UEFI hardware diagnostics
    HP Diagnostics Windows
    https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/.../pc-diags.html

Run the UEFI hardware diagnostics extensive tests overnight as needed in loop until error > click esc the next day > run component tests as needed
Run the HP Diagnostics Windows as needed for the component tests.

Have you tried to disable it in "services"?

The solution that best suits me is to use StartMenu > SynapticsTouchPad > check box enable "disable internal pointing device when external USB point device is attached".

I probably tried to find this earlier but I believe it was not present in the StartMenu.

I believe it became present in the StartMenu after installing some older version of drivers that do not produce the incompatibility message that I mentioned in an earlier post. The two older drivers that probably made the difference are the chipset driver and the touchpad driver. Whether a single one of those older drivers alone would make a difference was not researched.

Thank you for all your suggestions.
