    Scanning (pictures / documents) problem

The Photo App, and the Scan App also uses the WIA method.
    So try those.
Try changing the acquisition method from WIA to TWAIN. Paintshop Pro should be able to do that. Is it a very old version ?
The Canon Scangear application uses the TWAIN driver.
Windows Fax & Scan looks to be legacy version of the Scan App using WIA/WSD.
    Hello,
    Thanks for the answers.
    1. Looked into the system, there is not "Windows Fax & Scan" on the system. I wonder why. (system is genuine and licensed),and I have no fax machine at home.
    2. No other program is running when I open PaintShop Pro (yes, its old) to do a scan. But now I remember once I had the option to select WIA or TWAIN, now its only WIA, no option to select.
When this warning message appears, I search in the "Task Manager" if something related to scanning or picture program running - could not find such.
    3. ScanGear alone works fine, but if I have to make some corrections in the scanned picture / document, still have to use the PainShop Pro which I'm used to it.
Well, that's all for now. Shell I try to look for a Twain driver or something alike ?
    Answers will be appreciated.
    Thanks

Try scanning the image using the scan software first, and then import into Paint Shop. See if that solves the issue. Most programs (along with newer versions of Windows) stopped allowing you to scan directly into them awhile ago.
BTW - how old is your version of Paint Shop Pro?
    Let us know.
    Hello,
    Thanks for all the answers.
My PaintShop Pro version is 6.02f, Digital signature says January 2000 (old).
Now I'm trying "IrfanView". Did not install it, just unzipped the program's file into a folder and started it. Selecting the scan it opens a small window with two options (as it was in PaintShop Pro before), one is WIA scan, the other opens the "ScanGear" (which gives much better results). The scanned image stays in the "IrfanView" program for further edit / save / whatever.
So now I am practicing the "IrfanView", but my favorite imaging program is "PaintShop Pro" (after so many years).
And still I do not know what caused the problem. May be it will be gone (or not) after I upgrade the system to Windows 2004.
    I appreciate all the answers.

You're using a 20 year old program so to be honest, I nowhere near surprised you're having issues. To be frank my only surprise is that the program ran to begin with.

Also, if you like PaintShop pro that much, I'd think it'd be worth upgrading since the more Windows 10 updates, the more chances old programs like your version of PaintShop Pro will cease to work.

    Good luck.

    When did the problem start?
If it was recently, and after a Windows Update, you might try rolling back the update.
If it solves the problem it is a temporary fix, but it might yield some clues to determine what is going on.
