Does anyone know a group policy that will prevent formatting cd/dvd on windows explore. I can use other software like Roxio secure burn to format the disc and burn. I got an error "you do not have sufficient rights to perform this operation". I narrow down to group policy because if isolate the machine from the group policy then I can do it. I have so many setting, it is hard to narrow down to which setting.

I already remove nocdburning and Devices: Allowed to format and eject removable media is not define.

If using regedit for the appropriate key you modify its value to set 1
on NO CD BURNING then as that prevents write - it also prevents format which is a form of write

The same principle applies to GP
However in GP it only prevents Windows burn not third party .

That all said I am confused as not too long ago you started this thread

which tends to suggest you have set GP as above

SO is your question in fact NOT how to prevent

Please explain in detail what it actually is you wish to do.
Also, it would help to know if is this an actual requirement, of yours for some manner of control - on the rights of other users of the system.
