    Sandisk usb cruzer corrupted?

    Hi all,
I fear that my USB stick is corrupted. I had been using my usb stick between work and home and my work network is notoriously laggy. I THINK that the network or my pc, may have corrupted my USB.
I've plugged and unplugged the usb, but it's not recognized by the laptop and is asking to reformat. I have some important files on the usb and have tried to figure a way to download the files off the USB.

I'm kinda desperate here. Any tips? I went to the SANDISK site, but it's not useful.

    I'm on WIN10, 1909
    Thanks,

Which machine are you on now that is not happy with the stick? Home or work?
FWIW..... if it's saying to reformat, it is recognizing the drive.

    F-14

I'm at home for the weekend on my personal laptop.

I had a feeling that the pc IS RECOGNIZING the usb, however, why can't I just copy the files from the usb to my laptop? I looked at EASEUS, to try and repair, but it was worthless and I'm not spending $50 on that.

@F14- Many moons ago I was a electrician's mate on the USS Kitty Hawk. Many times I watched a F14 off of catapult and recover on the arresting gears. Good times.

    Thx,

Can you post a pic of exactly what you see when you plug it in. You said you got a message to reformat. It's that message, and any others, we need to see just as you do.

@brutha analog I know the feeling, several months on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt, part of it on the flight deck then got into Air Operations, last 2 years at NAS Quonset Point, RI. Largest plane we carried was the A3D, did get a ride in an AD-5. Got out barely before all the re-designating of the models.

Here is a screenshot. I got it to work for a little bit, but I powered down and it doesn't work again.

What is the size of the Sandisk USB drive?

Please post a Disk Manager image (expand the columns and post a whole screen image)

A little bit? It worked for a little bit? That is an odd one. Sounds like there may be a loose or bad connection in the lappy or drive. Be gentle with it and see if you can get it to work long enough to get some screenshots or data off. Try a different USB port, if you've haven't Try a different machine if you have access to one. Or wait till you get back to work on Monday and do it there.

This shows the K: drive as being healthy. But this SANDISK CRUZER is 128GB, this says it's only 64GB. That makes it seems like the other half isn't being recognized.
"worked a little bit" - yes, it worked a little bit. I was in the middle of getting the files off the drive, but the laptop quit seeing the drive. I got that to work by using REGEDIT and removed all the USB files connected to the USB in the registry. Then I inserted in the USB again. I may have to do this several times in order to get all the files.

So, I did my trick again where I use the registry editor to remove all the VID_0781 files in the registry. It worked again, but it literally gets dropped again, NOTE the "not responding" message.
