Floppy drive recognized by device manager but not showing up

    Hello,
I found an old floppy drive and it is showing up on BIOS and Windows device manager, but not showing up on "This PC".

Does Windows 10 (20H2) still support Floppy?

    Thanks

Have you stuck a floppy in it to se if it recognizes it? 3.5 would have to be. It may need to be "tickled". I know an empty CD/DVD will show up, but not sure about and "empty" floppy. try it.

also may be a driver, but I doubt it. Windows would have looked. It may still look if you stick a floppy in there. We're talking pre-historic times, here!

Does the drive have a letter in Device Manager? I know USB's will appear in Device Manager but not 'This PC' until they've been assigned a drive letter.

Haha definitely pre-historic. I put some floppies with old stuff I found but still not recognized. I bought a cheap floppy cable off ebay so maybe its the cause for failure?

It definitely supports floppies. I have a pile of floppy drives and found only half can read a disk.
If the drive is working, it will appear under my PC.

Set the bios to first boot a floppy drive, then does your PC try to boot a floppy when booting? Led light will be off as PC runs thru post, then as it enters boot phase, LED light comes on and it spins the disk.

The floppy disk light will be OFF when the drive is not turning a disk. If it is on all the time, flip cable end over as the pins are reversed.
And your not supposed to pop out a disk if the light is ON.
If you want, load up liveUSB of linux Mint and see if your floppy drive is there, it has to be mounted. OS is similar to windows.
