Know anyone who's got one that you could borrow? Once only use ... digitise your BluRay disks and you won't need the player forever.

I WANT to use my discs...

I am going on record here and now, I do not want to digitize my movies, its a PITA, easier to buy em digitally off a locker service like fandango, itunes, or google tv.

I do appreciate the suggestions in that direction, however, it just is not for me.

I'm a disc man through and through. I'll only go fully digital when physical media goes the way of the vhs cassette and the 8 track tape player.

what about cyberlink? I'm currently on the latest update version of 14.
Do you mean PowerDVD? I see they're currently at version 20. Version 14 Ultra is supposed to play BluRays.

I hope that it's not a version that was supplied with another drive. In my experience, those free versions are there mainly to sell you a retail version, as features are disabled in the free version.

I'll give them this, though. I mistakenly bought PowerDVD to allow me to play UHD BDs through my PC. Turned out to require hardware that supported Intel SGX instructions. My AMD system does not. Cyberlink refunded my purchase. (And, I deleted the download. I could have used it as a regular BluRay player.)

Incidentally: normally, to play copy protected BluRay disks, both graphics card and monitor must support HDCP. You must also use a digital interface (certainly HDMI or Display Port. I'm not sure about DVI.) I think a GT 730 supports HDCP (not HDCP 2.2, used for 4k). I'm unsure about the AOC monitor.

well I'm not looking to do bd 3d(which the whole system would need to support from mobo to display) nor 4k bd, just regular bd.

according to the bd advisor from cyberlink, my system passes muster, though I may need to update cyberlink..wish I could buy 15, which has some nice features..20 just seems...overpacked with crap I dont need.

"Regular" BD also requires HDCP (but not 2.2), assuming the software is designed to comply with digital copy protection.

I'm just not sure my existing cyberlink(14 oem) is bluray compatible, so I emailed cyberlink asking if there's a way to legitimately acquire version 15 for the blu-ray support...I dont need 20 as its jampacked galore with crap I dont need.

I'm more inclined to spend $45 on amazon for cyberlink 16.
