Mouse and keyboard not working on bootup

I use a Logitech wireless USB keyboard and mouse combo. On booting up, they are not useable until some 20 seconds after Windows has loaded.

This means I cannot press DEL to enter BIOS setup, F12 to select boot drive, select which operating system I would like, and so forth.

To get around this I have purchased a PS/2 mouse and keyboard. This means I have 2 x mice and 2 x keyboards attached to my machine. Is there anything I can do to Windows (or indeed BIOS) so I can continue using just my wireless keyboard set?

Try plugging the Universal Transceiver into a 2.0 USB port. Unplug the wired keyboard and mouse first. Sometimes a USB 3.0 port is not the best choice for a wireless mouse or keyboard. Also make sure your computer is at least four feet from or desk or table.

I was thinking in terms of a desktop computer, not a laptop. If you have a desktop located over six feet from where your keyboard and mouse are located, the wireless signal may become weak, especially if there are thick or metal objects between you and desktop PC. Laptops don't matter because the mouse travels with you and is usually about six to ten inches from the laptop.
