New Western Digital 4TB Noisy

Recently purchased a WD Black 4TB hard drive to replace an older 1TB WD Black drive as needed more storage space for some more files, anyways it makes this like chunk sound every so often, Crystal Disk info shows no problems, Passed Short test, long test i may do tonight, then after that my updated system image is planned, was gonna do it today, but i slept in longer than i planned to

From what i read around various forums, the noise might be by design with Preventive wear leveling feature of the drive from Western Digital, but not 100 percent sure on that yet

Yeah i may end up having to replace it, kinda a hassle though, but if i end up having to, so be it i guess, Guess should've ordered from Western Digital Direct and not bought it on Amazon,

But guess next steps is contact WD Support, and see what they say, and go from there--hopefully they approve an RMA, then get it out of system after backing up data, then get it shipped out to them, then get the replacement installed when it arrives, and hopefully much better experience

I had no idea that WD did PWL (pre-emptive wear leveling) on their HDs. I wonder how long they've been doing it? I never noticed it with an old WD Black drive (WD1501FASS, 1.5TB, 3Gbps). Either they didn't do it on that model, or it wasn't loud enough to annoy me.

Whether "AMDMan2016" is in a "they all do that" situation, or the drive is defective, I can't guess.

My current Seagate Iron Wolf NAS drives are pretty quiet.

Only have in this system 3 Front Fans (Intake, 1 Rear Exhaust, and CPU Heatsink fan, and of course video card fans, so guess i tend to notice more noise lol, Kept top fan spot empty for now til i decide if going with AIO Water cooling for my processor, or air cooling with bigger heatsink in the future

But right now will determine if noises with the drive isn't anything to worry on, or if i should return it, or what

I've never noticed any sounds off several wd black 1tb hdd in an uncovered hdd external enclosure.
Have several 2.5" models too.

Yeah if i do decide to return it and get a replacement model, and if the replacement one has the same noises, then guess then not gonna worry on it i suppose.

I gotta get the data backed up off it, and then clean the drive off prior to shipping out for the return, in the meantime will watch for email reply from Western Digital, and i guess proceed from there what i decide to do on final decision
