    Hardware connect sound on startup

Hey guys. Since the new windows 10 install a few months ago, i get a device connect sound upon logging into my desktop. I've checked the event viewer and see a few things... does anybody know how to figure out exactly what it is and put it to rest? Here's what i'm seeing around the time of the connect sound in time order. The last one is closest to connect... I hear the sound around 10 seconds, i'll input seconds after the event.

The TBS device identifier has been generated. 00

The TPM was successfully provisioned and is now ready for use. 01

The start type of the Background Intelligent Transfer Service service was changed from demand start to auto start. 03

The mcpltsvc MMS Service entered the running state. 10 (when i hear the sound, but what is it?)

    I'm on build 20H2

TPM = trusted platform module Trusted Platform Module - Wikipedia
Could be it can't mount something encrypted until the TPM finishes loading and get provisioned.
OTOH, this mysterious McAfee item indicates that MMS service requires a verifiable trusted party (VTP) to work. So it could be that whatever is causing the MMS Service to run is also waiting on the TPM to do encryption to verify that trusted party.
If you're running McAfee, I wouldn't be concerned. If you're not, you'll probably want to start tracking down the process in which the MMS Service is used. All my bit-fiddling on Google shows a connection between McAfee and the MMS Service.

Does the OP actually have a TPM module installed....normally those don't come with the mobo. Then one has to enable it in the BIOS in order to use it.

So, I'm wondering if it was enable in the BIOS and at boot up, the device not being registered get's that error message because it's not there.

Good question/observation. I have no idea what's happening with the OP's mobo. The only PCs I've got with TPM installed are laptops, and those were designed for corporate use. I've added a TPM chip to a mobo before though and, once installed, it works like the ones built into laptops.

A couple of things, TPM chips are quite often fitted to pre made laptops and desktops (especially those with proprietary motherboards, my Acer Predator is from 2017 and has one built in.
As far as the device connected sound the OP mentions is concerned it could be that the boot drive has hardware encryption enabled and that is causing the sound.
Is the laptop UEFI compliant and enabled? Pretty sure TPM only operates with UEFI. Could be wrong though, not really looked into it that much.
