    SSD not recognised.

My friend gave me a HDD that he said was clean formatted as NTFS. I was going to use it as storage.

I plugged it in and Win XP started to load.
I immediately did a shutdown and removed the HDD.
I booted and now my OS doesn't recognise the SSD A400 at all in Disk Management or Diskpart.
I unplugged the SSD and plugged back in, just in case.
I used WinXPE and that didn't show the SSD either.
I could't Clean Install because there was NO disk shown to partition.

    When I boot I get . . .

Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press any key.

I am just formatting the HDD, and I will hopefully be able to install Win 10 [ my custom installation ] onto it.

    Any help appreciated.

Take the XP hdd out and...
Use a Macrium Reflect bootable media (CD or USB stick) and choose the Restore > Fix Boot Problems tool, to fix the SSD's boot issue.

IF it doesn't work after that... you'll have to use the command prompt commands to fix the boot section of the SSD. The Macrium bootable media also has a command prompt in lower left corner.

Have you got a link for the Offline ISO please.

I haven't got another Win 10 machine at the moment where I can download and create a rescue disk.

    Thanks.

Sorry it took so long... I had to find it, zip it, clean out my Dropbox, then upload it to Dropbox.

No problems. Just creating bootable USB with Rufus.

If the Restore > Fix Boot Problems doesn't work, then you'll have to use the command prompt commands to do the same thing.

I'm not even sure if the Macrium Fix Boot Problems will work, if you don't have a MR backup somewhere.

I'm not really knowledgeable about this kind of thing, cause I started using backup software back in 2003 I think.
Whenever I mess something up now-a-days, I just restore from a backup.
It's really easy, so I've gotten lazy.

You took that XP hdd out, right?

Well, I'll just leave this here, in case you need it. This is Partition Wizard 8.1 bootable media ISO...
