Strange vertical grey line on brand new Asus screen

    hi guys,

So i just got this brand new asus screen, nice screen have to say but noticed something odd on its pixels. Doesn't appear to be "broken" but there's a group of vertical pixels which you can clearly see on a white or grey background.

had to picture it with my phone as obviously you cannot screen cap that :)

here: Strange vertical grey line on brand new Asus screen-vertical-grey-pixel.jpg

on blue you don't see it. you can see it on red, white, yellow, white, grey....

I dropped a note to asus tech support to see what they think, i mean is not terrible but of course it's a brand new screen, or shall i use it a bit and see if it disappears?

    cheers,
    Gab

It seems to be too randomly shaped to be dead pixels. I'm wondering if it is a manufacturing defect like a scratch on the film. On the inside of the screen.

If the 'scratch' is inside the screen then no, not a delivery related problem - a manufacturing problem.
If the scratch were on the outside of the screen then it could be due to mishandling (anywhere along the line from production to unboxing).
Rub your finger across that spot on the screen to see if you can feel a defect. Turn the PC off and carefully inspect the screen for any sign of defect. If it is perfectly smooth then the problem is inside the screen.

i've just rubbed my finger and you dont feel anything absolutely anything i have also cleaned it really well with microfiber cloth - has a lovely black matte finish btw and you don't see anything..... maybe i will just live with it, it's so small.

Also doesn't seem to have any visible scratches or dents or anything. so strange..

curious to see what asus support says

Rather hard to see on your image, but that would be manufacturing defects within the Display Panel.

Dust or dirt or maybe a scratch being trapped between the layers during manufacture and smeared a bit. e.g. maybe during the AR coating or indeed any layer applied.

Poor quality control, not acceptable in my view. Covers too many pixels and a number of them.
