Marvell 91xx Config ATA Device - Driver Support

    Hey all!

Could anyone help me with identify what this driver is used for? Do I need it? Will it help with stability and if so where can I find it?

I remember looking around the web and finding a driver but since it a much older driver some of the websites seem a bit sketchy so I can't really be certain.

I also have a "unknown device" driver I need but no idea what it is for.

I presume that is a driver for the Marvell 9128 controller that is used to provide two additional SATA ports.

I don't know whether the latest drivers at Asus (https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/m...pVistaWin7.zip) would work under Win10 X64. They ought to, although you may have to use compatiblity mode to install them. Or even a forced manual installation.

If you're not using those ports, you don't need the drivers. I imagine that you could disable the Marvell controller in the BIOS settings. (I haven't checked.)

I have such a Marvell driver on my 2012 Gigabyte motherboard. This driver is needed to support extra SATA ports. I have sufficient Intel supported SATA ports so I disabled the Marvell ports in the BIOS.

Oh if they are not important or wont cause stability issues I don't mind not having them, just wasn't sure. How can I figure out the unknown device?

    Thanks :)

Look at the Details tab for the device in Device Manager to see if you can figure out what the device is:

The Marvel one is the exact same description but the unknown device comes up as

    "ACPI\ATK0110\1010110"

    Thank you :)

I'm not sure if this is relevant but after I installed marvel drivers under compatibility mode my computer won't load into Windows.

I went to reboot after I installed it and now I'm stuck.

    Log file : D:\Windows\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt

I get stop code 0xc000021a when I try to load windows, it takes a while to load then it comes up.

A driver issue like that can screw up your PC. Do you have a backup to recover from?

I'm going to have to format, luckily I was in a fairly fresh install to begin with. I really gotta adopt the "don't fix what ain't broken" more often.

Just out of curiosity, if while transferring files from a external to your main harddrive at times causes the pc to hang, almost like a freeze, then come back, a couple times then eventually crashing. Could this indicate a problem with the harddrive?

Yes, a very strong indication of a problem with one of the hard drives. Your unknown device is likely Asus ATK and needs the ATK ACPI driver:

    Hello Navy!

Well I got rid of the other hard drive, i'm not sure if you recall, I'm using the one that was perfect status. I installed HD Pro Tune again. It's very weird because status is fine but the computer does behave very strangely. I'm going to continue using it until some more obvious symtoms pop up.

So far at times I'll get like a random hang, or freeze for like a few seconds, then everything will load at once, like if I was trying to open a folder.

Other times it will be at 100% usage even though there is no process using it, or simply stay at 0% usage.

During windows install the hard drive will make writing sound...then stop for a while...then continue sound...then stop.

Just a little annoying because previous intensive scans didn't show anything, maybe it is begining to fail?

When I was installing fresh windows, i just got a blank purple screen where you usually press "install now" button. Then while I was installing "getting files ready" made it to 100% but "installing files" got stuck at 14% and I had to restart, then windows installed fine after reset, feature updates installed fine.

    I don't understand lol.

What is a good program that can simulate file transfer or hard drive usage to see if something happens.

    Edit:

A friend of mine has a External hard drive, it is very small, looks like a ssd and it has Sata III ports, could I use that as a internal hard drive to see how things go and if I get similar issues? I will get the make and model when I go see him later today.
