Optical drive now missing
Hello,
I have been trying to setup my PC for over one year now and keep having issues. I have experminted and practiced reinstalling Windows 10 20H2 about 10 times. Everything was looking good and was finally ready to setup my PC today. I reinstalled Windows, ran Windows update including all the optional driver updates and started installing all my software and drivers for my external devices. This includes Photoshop CS6, Wavelab 10, Office 2016 and the driver for my USB audio interface. I got about 80% done and then my optical drive went missing with the following error in device manager,
windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (code 19)
I tried updating the driver and then uninstalling the device in the device manager with no luck. I did some reasearch on the issue and I am not willing to hack the registry. I don't feel I should have to.
Can this be caused by not having the chipset driver from my motherboard, Asus?
