No, the Installer will replace the existing drivers.

Since the last update I get Unknown Devices in the Device Manager and when I click on Properties I get this :-

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There are no compatible drivers for this device.

To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.

I have just had the same problem. Windows downloaded ASMedia Technology Inc - USB - 8/29/2016 12:00:00 AM - 1.16.38.1 and I lost the usb ports on the front panel linked to the motherboard and two unknown devices popped up in device manager under Software components. I resolved this by rolling back to the previous driver. Unknown devices disappeared and the ports are working properly again. Working driver is Microsoft 2021-06-04 Version: 10.0.22000.1

Where did you get that version from?
It's pretty hard to find a good working ASMedia USB3.1 eXtensible Host Controller driver.

    Thanks for your replies.

I finished up with a Microsoft signed driver version 10.0.22621.1 and dated May 06, 2022.
I also saved, but not yet used the Microsoft Update Catalog driver version 1.16.61.1, dated May 20, 2020.

I was previously using an ASMedia driver, but I started getting GSODs when I was trying to update Windows 11 to version 22H2 Build 22621.1. The previous ASMedia USB3.1 eXtensible Host Controller driver was crashing the upgrade due to asmtxhci.sys.
