I had the same prob. After hours of research on the web I joined this forum but still no solutions. I waited for answers to your post but still nothing meanwhile I kept looking and I found this somewhere:
    1. Select IDT High Definition Audio CODEC on Device Manager.
    2. Select Driver tab.
    3. Click Update Driver... button.
    4. Select Browse my computer for driver software.
    5. Select Let me pickup a list of device drivers on my computer.
    6. Select High Definition Audio Device (Not IDT High Def... this is important.) and click Next.
Appears Warning message, but reply Yes.
    7. Windows has successfully update your driver software.
It did solve my prob but I can't tell if it'll help you. Anyways I'm no expert I'm just trying to help cause this prob made me really frustrated.

The "High Definiton Audio" Driver is only the generic, basic function, Windows installed sound driver. It is not the full feature driver of the sound hardware in the PC.

As you have a Dell Inspiron 14Z, Dell has not certified this for Win 10 The only drivers I find on the Dell downloads for the 14Z (there are several different 14Z models) is for XP/Vista/Win 7 and they are not compatible with Win 10. You can try installing the Win 7 drivers in a Win 7 compatibility mode but no guarantee it will work. If the Realtek will not install in a compatibility mode, the generic High Definition Audio is the best you can do. There are no drivers for your specific hardware on the Realtek site either (the 14Z uses Realtek).

Here is the Dell downloads for the 14Z 1470. If yours is different select the correct 14Z model.
