Keyboard and mouse not working in windows 10

    Hi all,

as the title says my keyboard and mouse are not working when windows 10 load.

Also there is another strange think. Since I am not lazy (or so i believe), i have tried a couple of thing i read around in the net
and i come across in a case where i was in cmd mode (from recovery drive) and when i chose to repair my pc i get a screen where 2 versions of windows exists. A windows 10 pro and a windows 10 which is very strange for me since i have only installed windows 10 pro one time.

So now you know my problem (and the 2nd the weird one, which actually may not be a problem i do not know but it is definitelly weird. For me at least who i am a noob)

Does any good people can give me a heads up in what i could do?

Thank you for your time reading this.

    Regards,
    Nik.

I cannot turn on onscreen keyboard since neither keyboard nor the mouse are working.

Note: When i change ports i here the noise windows 10 do when plugging or unplugging a device and i also see in the screen messages saying that the relevant mouse and keyboard drivers were installed.

Meanwhile i am trying to enter safe mode using this tutorial to see if mouse and keyboard work there and if yes to try to fix the problem from there.

Not enough information. Were they working before? Have you tried the keyboard and mouse on another computer?

Are they wireless? If so, have you checked their batteries?

Do you have any other keyboard and mouse besides these two? If so, do they work on your computer?

    Yes you are right eddman,
well, they were working before they are not wireless, they are usb with cord.

Btw, when i go in command prompt from rescue disk, the keyboard is working so i doubt they have some problem. Anyway i will see if i can get another pair from some friend.

Meanwhile i try to enter safe mode....

    I cannot enter safe mode.
The computer just keep entering normal windows 10 and the keyboard and mouse keep not to work.

I am in desperate need of help.

Thank you for your time reading this.

I had to restore disk C: (system disk) from an image i had taken 8 days before.
This was not a good solution in my humble opinion for these reasons:
    1. I do not know-remember what changes have happened meanwhile.
    2. Not being able to enter windows safe mode was not nice.
    3. I do not know what was the problem so if it happens again i won't be able to resolve it.

A big thank to the people who responded to me in this thread.

    Regards,
    Nik.

Several things you can start doing -

Check Reliability Monitor for any issues that might be recorded -

Control Panel > Security and Maintenance > Maintenance > View reliability history

Run a System Health Report and look for issues -

    Windows key + R, enter perfmon /report

After 1 to 2 minutes, the report can be accessed in Performance Monitor (perfmon) > Performance > Reports > System > System Diagnostics.

Make sure System Restore points are being created daily.

Make sure you have bootable installation media that you can boot from to enter the Repair environment and restore System Restore points from the Troubleshooting menu.

Backup files daily that change frequently (use File History, or a free tool like Karen's Replicator), and do a full disk image backup at least once a week, sooner if you make a major change to your system.

Keep a log of changes you make to your system.

    @OldNavyGuy
    Much obliged for your recommendations.
Seems that my problem had to do with a problematic disk , which by now i have substituted and i will do your recommendations with the new disk onboard, in case there are some problems transferred due to the cloning of the disk.

    Regards.

I have a question though if i might.
In all this procedure sometimes windows entered the autorepair mode and after a while they failed.
This can be explained because bios was changing the order of my hard disks and was swapping them so the system disk C was 2nd disk in bios. (i hope i explain it correctly)

My question is that after the failure to autorepair windows (explanation above) i was presented to pick an os system with these 2 options:
    Windows 10
    Windows 10 pro

What were these 2 options and which i should pick if this arise again?
(Note : I have windows 10 pro installed)

    Regards,
    Nik.

P.S. It is not handy that in windows 10 is so difficult to enter safe mode. The f8 during startup in older windows versions it was much better in my humble opinion.
