Is M.2 ssd for laptop only

1.Whether M.2 ssd is only for laptop or it is for PC also. 2. whether Intel i3 7th generation processor supports M.2 ssd. 3. If it is for PC also and If PC does not have slot for M.2 ssd then what is the cheapest way to use M.2 ssd in a PC which does not have slot.

2. Yes, the Intel i3 7th generation processor supports M.2 SSD.

3. You would have to use a PCIE adapter card. However, if your motherboard and BIOS do not support NVMe, then you will not be able to boot from an NVMe.

If your motherboard does not have an M.2 slot and has SATA 3, I would install a 2.5" SATA SSD.

I have a PCIe M.2 AHCI SSD. It is fast (2000MB/s). Also have a 2.5" SATA SSD (560 MB/s).
Both has windows on them.
On daily use you don't notice any performance advantage of the M.2 compared with the 2.5" SATA SSD, although the M.2 is almost 4 times faster (on the bench mark test).

Thanks for the information about the speed. Then I wll buy 2.5" Sata SSD. Moreover my motherboard does not have slot for M.2 and most probably it will not support M.2.
