The best drivers for your device are already installed (Windows 10).

    Windows 10:
    Version: 2004
    Build: 19041.508
    Bit: x64

When I search for an update for any driver, Windows instantly tells me I have the best drivers installed when I do not.

I had this issue ages back, but the issue was with me being connected to the wrong wifi. It's not that solution now.

I found this thread from last year of someone fixing it, but as usual with the internet, it's never that easy.
Device Manager - Update Driver Issue

I tried the fixes. I added the DriverUpdates key as I was missing it to no avail. Sucks to suck.

That should say Blue Snowball once it's updated itself - it's not updating...

If someone could help out, it'd be much appreciated! :)

    Hulky,

The short answer is not to trust Windows for any hardware drivers unless you have exhausted the OEM route.

Get your drivers from the OEM, in your case Zotac for your motherboard, ...

For a ready-built computer, the computer maker would be the OEM for all hardware shipped with the computer and individual hardware makers would be the OEMs for hardware acquired separately.

I get not trusting Windows, but still... My Windows driver update is messed up somehow.

I'd still like support rather than being told not to trust Windows.

    Hi,
MicroSoft doesn't support manufactures especially custom builds it's their deal to support their products
You won't find any MS personnel monitoring or responding to questions here either

If you want computer support buy Dell/... computers or buy from the microsoft store for branded MS machines.

I have the best drivers installed when I do not.
Just wondering - how do you know that? What is your reference for 'best drivers'?

I would struggle to think of a case where someone solved a problem by updating their drivers, but can think of a good few where updating had caused a problem or using an older one was necessary.

Can you post a link to driver downloads for your MOBO?

1 If you are referring to using Device manager for driver updates then you need to be aware that the functionality has been removed from Version 2004. Only WU can search for updated drivers for Version 2004. That's why the reponse you saw was instant - it was not doing what you told it to do.

This change has been reported by some reliable TenForums members but, as I don't use this method, I did not keep any notes on the subject.

2 The situation is further complicated by the fact that many hardware makers send their updated drivers to MS who then supposedly validate them in some way then include them in what WU checks against. But the system is not particularly reliable - MS caused many printer problems with their updated printer drivers a while back.

I'm not sure I have the "best driver", but I know for a fact I don't have the right one. I was getting at the fact that it was detecting I had the 100%, fully correct driver when I clearly do not.

In the picture, you can see that the microphone it's detecting does not say Blue Snowball.

I had this issue recently when I tried using my Blue Snowball. It detected the microphone as it did in the picture, but once I rebooted, it changed the name to Blue Snowball. Now, it's not doing that. I can reboot, unplug, uninstall drivers, etc. Nothing is fixing the driver-level issue!

I can talk into my microphone for a minute or so, then the mic completely cuts audio. Unplugging / plugging back in randomly works.

This should be the correct link for my MOBO drivers: ASRock > Z370 Killer SLI/ac

A friend sent me the link when helping me update my MOBO for the first time.
