What To Do With Intel Rapid Storage Technology That Is Now EOL

    Hello,

The reason I am posting is that I noticed that my Intel Rapid Storage Technology in my Control Panel is reaching its end of life and upon reading the notice it suggested I go to the MS Store and download the Intel Optane Memory and Storage Management App which I did without any problems. Using Admin. privileges I opened up the App with no problems. It had my information and said my storage system was functioning normally. I am not running Optane Memory so clicking on that tells me "feature not supported in ACHI mode. The Create RAID Volume is greyed as I gather that is suppose to be like that since my OS is on an SSD and I use my HDD for storage. Now from here I am at a complete loss as to what to do. Now that I have the App installed and it seems to be functioning properly what do I do with the App in my Control Panel that is reaching end of life? Can I just go to Apps in Settings and uninstall it or use Programs and Features to uninstall it or should I just leave it alone and use new App I installed? Will this harm my computer in anyway if I remove the old App or let it stay or corrupt my Win 10? I do a create a system restore point every three days on my computer. I would greatly appreciate any help and info as to what I should do. I will place my system specs below if that helps.

    Respectfully,
    Don

    See these links:
Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology and Intel(R) Optane™ Memory...

What is the Intel(R) Optane™ Memory and Storage Management User...

    Note
It is recommended that users migrating from the legacy applications utilize this installer for ease of use and the best transition. Just remember to review the Release Notes to confirm product support and compatibility.

Q: Why will these applications no longer be supported?

The Intel® Optane™ Memory and Storage Management Hardware Support Application combines premium Intel® RST capabilities into one easy-to-use application. It will take the place of the EOL'd applications. Future development work will focus on the health and capabilities of this application.

Thanks for your reply. I finally went ahead and uninstalled the EOL RST but when I uninstalled it my Store RST would not work and said I needed to download the latest driver so I went to the link provided and downloaded the 17.9.1.1009. Since it was opening before with no problem that surprised me but I guess when I uninstalled the EOL RST it uninstalled the driver. So I installed the driver and it restarted my computer into safe mode and from there I had to install it again and it restarted my computer normally. The Store App is now working fine. I have noticed that the RST Store App takes way less memory in task manager like maybe about 1.5 to 1.9 MB whereas the EOL RST was taking about 35 MB of mem and would go as high as around 65 to 75 MB of mem before I did my weekly computer restart. Anyway my RST store app says my storage is working properly. Thanks for your reply again.
