    Motherboard power connector

I have a HP Pavilion p6-2300f desktop, Window 10. I just added a newer dvd writer to it. I had not issue in accomplishing that task. Somehow, I unplugged the connector for the power button. I do know where I should plug it in. I have attache a picture of the connector Motherboard power connector-0909201807a.jpg

I am including pictures of the motherboard the that the connector can reach.

my pc building skills are rusty, so I need someone to point how the power connection place on this motherboard.

I will appreciate any help I can get to get this pc running again.
    Thank you in advance.

Take a picture further away of the entire mobo. I don't see any spots in that picture you posted to plug in something like you have pictured.

Me three. Usually an OEM/Brand computer has a bundle leading from the front panel controls to the motherboard. And most cables that plug onto the motherboard can't be interchanged with others except for the USB and SATA drive data cables, maybe fans.

The modern ATX motherboards differ from the old AT boards in that the motherboard controls the power supply and the On|Off switch tells the board to go to work. The AT-style computers had a switch that was physically connected directly to the power supply.

Interesting. The Web search engines I've consulted fail to find an HP Pavilion p6-2300f. The attached image shows (green) a fairly typical location for the controls header.

We need a pic of the lower right corner of the motherboard.

This perhaps a question for HP Support or the relevant HP Forum. My Gigabyte motherboard has a Front Panel Header connector shown below. I guess yours might have a similar connector in which case you need to be careful to use the right pins and really need a diagram of the motherboard connectors.

The only possibility in your photos is the Red connector, but the angle you have taken it obscures the pcb printed info so cannot tell.
The info on the pcb is usually just enough to ID the functions. Not all of which will be used.

Usually these connectors are along the bottom edge of a MOBO, have two rows of contacts with more functions than what will used in a particular PC.

Seems to be made by Foxconn, there should be a model number on the MOBO somewhere.
Harder to find details when they are made for a manufacturer like HP.

Here are more pictures as requested, let me know what you think. I had to do several pictures because the cables block view of the Motherboard.

thank you again for you time and assistance,

The connector for the front panel power switch should be down by those SATA cable connectors. But I can see it from those pics.

I also tried Googling your computer make/model, and what I believe is you motherboard make/model.
I could get close... but not on the dot.

I would just take it to a friendly mom and pop computer shop, and have them show you where the cable goes.
If I had it here, I could find it in about 10-15 seconds. But that doesn't do you any good.

This is why most folks just build their own computers. With motherboards you get things like... manuals, with pictures.

For example, here is my motherboard pic... from left to right the circles are Audio, USB, and the front panel (power switch etc.) connectors. This is pretty standard for motherboards.
It's even similar to your. Left to right... Audio, USBs, and.... ????

Btw, all those connectors are on the BOTTOM of the motherboard. The easiest way is a mom and pop computer shop.
The connector you're looking for should be labeled, like the USB connectors and the Audio connectors are.

But like you said, all those cables are in the way.

did you mean to attach a picture of your motherboard?

In your last message did you intend to attach a picture of your motherboard as an example?

    Thank you again.
